What are the conditions for getting married at Bordeaux Town Hall?

To get married at Bordeaux town hall, you must :

  • at least one of the bride and groom, or one of their parents, must live in Bordeaux or have lived there for at least 1 month;
  • be of legal age;
  • they are single (or divorced).

How to book a date?

Completing an administrative file

As a first step, future spouses must complete an administrative file, in order to :

  • provide information about themselves ;
  • provide information on their witnesses (2 to 4 witnesses in all);
  • sign a charter of good conduct for ceremonies at Bordeaux town hall;
  • consult an online simulator to find out what additional documents, if any, are required, particularly for spouses born abroad.

Sending documents to the registry office

Once all the documents have been collated, the bride and groom should send them by e-mail to [email protected].

Hold an interview at the Mairie and arrange a date

Within 3 weeks of sending the documents, the Civil Status department contacts applicants to arrange an appointment at the town hall. This appointment takes place at the Town Hall and lasts around fifteen minutes. Both future spouses must be present. They must bring the completed administrative file and all supporting documents in their original version. The date and time of the wedding can then be scheduled.

When should I submit my application?

The marriage must take place within one year of submitting the application. However, as the summer period is particularly popular, it is preferable to apply around ten months in advance, especially for a wedding between May and September.

Where does the ceremony take place?

At the town hall or Caudéran district town hall.

On what day can we get married?

How long does the ceremony last?

About twenty minutes.

What time should you arrive on the big day?
